WHAT TRAINING DO I NEED?
Before you can even board a fishing vessel you need to have taken this course:
• BASIC SEA SURVIVAL COURSE (1 day)
Compliant with STCW95 – Theory covering the use of life jackets, life rafts, lifesaving equipment and techniques, first aid for survival, hypothermia, long term survival, abandonment, life raft drill and swimming techniques. There is an afternoon session which is usually a practical in a pool.
You can then go out on a boat to see if you like it and have 3 months to complete the other 3 mandatory courses.
• BASIC FIRE FIGHTING AND PREVENTION
